Blossoms at Wilmot Orchards
Wonderful creamy white blossoms show up on the blueberry bushes around May each year. We can tell by the number of blossoms if there is going to be a good crop.
We bring in bees every year to pollinate the blossoms to ensure that there will be a blueberry on each of those blossoms. Of course the honey bees delight in the nectar and busily gorge themselves. Great workers, they methodically go from blossom to blossom doing their gathering.
Bumblebees on the other hand are rather choosy. They fly from bush to bush choosing just the right blossoms for their connoisseur taste buds.
