Photographs taken at Wilmot Orchards summer 2007.
Falconry is an art. It requires long hours of patience and devotion, to the birds, a great deal of finesse, subtlety and skill.
The falconer trains a bird of prey to fly free, to hunt for a human being or do a job, and then accept a return to captivity.
The relationship between bird and falconer is one of love, respect and obedience. The very presence of the falconers and their hawks at Wilmot Orchards deters birds from eating the berries. After all there have to be plenty of berries for you to pick!
